Background West Palm Beach resident Gregg Weiss was vice-chair of the West Palm Beach Planning Board and President of the West Palm Police Foundation. Now retired, he was an executive at tech company Ingram Micro. He has an economics and social ecology degree from the University of California-Irvine. In 2008 he ran unsuccesfully for the West Palm Commission getting 21% in a three way race against Kimberly Mitchell and again in 2013 got 46% against Shannon Materio. Policy interests include workforce housing, water sustainability and maintaing the Ag Reserve. If the additional homestead exemption passes, he does not favor raising the tax rate to compensate and would prefer to cut spending. Weiss was endorsed by Bizpac as well as the police and fire unions, the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, and a large number of state and local public officials. |
