Description

The Palm Beach County Constitutional Officers, including Sheriff, Clerk/Comptroller, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, State's Attorney, and Public Defender are chosen in a county-wide election for a four year term.

Located on the southeast coast, Palm Beach County is the largest of Florida's 67 counties. The County's 2,228 square miles include 1,977 square miles of land and 251 square miles of surface water¹, making it one of the largest counties east of the Mississippi River.

Anne Gannon (D)
INCUMBENT

Background

Anne Gannon was born in Xenia, Ohio in 1947 and has been a Florida resident since 1983. She attended Barry University and Florida Atlantic. She currently lives in Delray Beach.

Prior to elected office in 2000, Anne owned a public policy firm, representing clients on a wide range of issues, and has been a partner in a manufacturing business and an employee of Dole.

Elected to House district 88 in 2000 with 52% in the Democrat primary, she was re-elected to then district 86 in 2002 with 62%, and was unopposed in 2004. After three terms she ran for county Tax Collector in 2006, besting (then) Republican Peter Carney with 60% and was unopposed for a four year term in 2008.

On her watch, the tax collectors office has expanded, taking over the drivers license registration function from the state.

In the August 2012 Democrat primary, Anne Gannon demolished challenger Pete Carney with 87% of the vote. She had no challenger in 2016.
